Anti-Biblical Doctrine

While not all video games, TV shows, and movies promote anti-Biblical doctrine, there are those that do promote bad ideas and anti-Biblical doctrines such as:

  • Taking vengeance against an enemy is ok (and even “justified”)

“Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” – Romans 12:19 (ESV)

  • Religion is a man-made practice that has no merit in today’s world

“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” – James 1:27 (ESV)

In other words, there is such a thing as religion.  Anyone who says otherwise is wrong.

  • Good and evil are in harmony with each other (promoted by the popular Star Wars franchise)

In the Star Wars video game:  Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, the game mentions that the “good” force and the “bad” force are both not bad, it’s just “how you use them”.

As I said before, Star Wars promotes a demonic philosophy of good and evil are in harmony with one another.  Without the absolute authority of God’s Word, there is no basis for what is good and what is evil.

The “force” in Star Wars is basically a “god is in everything and everybody” belief, and this “force” is neutral to good and evil (e.g. good and / or evil can be used to complete your task). Obviously this is in stark contrast to what the Bible teaches.

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!” – Isaiah 5:20 (ESV)

“For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness;
No evil dwells with You.” – Psalm 5:4 (NASB)

  • Being dishonest is an acceptable practice (a lot of TV shows promote this bad doctrine)

“There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.” – Proverbs 6:16-19 (ESV)

  • Trust in your heart (believe in yourself; Jesus Christ does not apply)

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?” – Jeremiah 17:9 (ESV)

He who trusts in his own heart is a fool,
But he who walks wisely will be delivered.” – Proverbs 28:26 (NASB)

  • Idol worship

“The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of human hands. They have mouths, but do not speak; they have eyes, but do not see; they have ears, but do not hear, nor is there any breath in their mouths.” – Psalm 135:15-17 (ESV)

Keep in mind, idols can be anything that someone reveres more than God (e.g. movie stars, money, video games, music singers, etc.)

  • There are many ways to get to heaven

“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” – John 14:6 (ESV)

  • God didn’t create anything (e.g. Creation). Evolution is the answer to how we got here.

For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.” – Exodus 20:11 (ESV)

Both creationists and evolutionists have the same information in front of them (e.g. rock layers, fossils, ice cores, black holes, animals, people, etc.).

It is how both of them interpret the evidence that makes creationists and evolutionists come to different conclusions about how everything came to exist.  Do you take God at His Word (Creation account found in the Holy Scriptures), or man’s fallible, ever-changing ideas (opinions) of what happened in the unobservable, unrepeatable past?

  • The Bible is something to make fun of (e.g. TV shows that disrespectfully mention the Holy Bible).   The Bible isn’t relevant in today’s society.  It is just for religious people who have not discovered that the Bible is outdated and full of ideas written my mere men with no inspiration by the Holy Spirit.

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” – 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (ESV)

  • No one (even God) can stop evil. Evil will prevail! (e.g. one time on a TV show I saw the “bad guys” starting to suddenly recover after apparent obliteration from the “good guys”;  this is a subliminal message to viewers that evil cannot be stopped, especially since the “good guys” never found out about it!)

“Fret not yourself because of evildoers, and be not envious of the wicked, for the evil man has no future; the lamp of the wicked will be put out.” – Proverbs 24:19-20 (ESV)

Satan wants people to believe that he cannot be stopped.  In the Book of Revelation in the Holy Scriptures, the account of Satan’s defeat is given…a fact Satan does not want anyone to know about!

  • God doesn’t exist. We are all animals via evolution.  We make up our own rules, morals, and ethics.

“To the choirmaster. Of David. The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds, there is none who does good.” – Psalm 14:1 (ESV)

Every person knows there is a God, but they are suppressing this knowledge in unrighteousness.

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.” – Romans 1:18 (ESV)

Also, how can there ever be morals and ethics in a evolutionary worldview?  Think about it.  In an evolutionary worldview, basically everyone is free to decide what they can or cannot do.  In that worldview, everyone is just animals.

Do we put a dog in prison for killing a rabbit?  Do we put a cat in jail for hunting mice?  Of course not!  So in a evolutionary worldview, what would be so much different in a human killing another human, who is supposed to be an animal anyway, and a dog killing a rabbit?

Any evolutionist who says that he or she can have ethics and morals ultimately does not have any foundation for that belief.  Just because he or she may think stealing is wrong, in the evolutionary worldview, he or she cannot expect (or require) everyone else to hold to that belief.  To do otherwise would be very inconsistent.

In other words, ethics and morals are subjective in the evolutionary worldview.

  • Both the Gospel and Jesus Christ, in the Holy Bible, are not what they appear to be. (e.g. The Da Vinci Code movie)

“But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.” – Galatians 1:8-9 (ESV)

“And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” – 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 (ESV)
